Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Forumz collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Forumz is run by Managed Softwares LLC. We don't sell your personal information.

What we collect

Account details: your email address or phone number, and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and email they share with us. Your username, display name, "what you do", bio and photo, if you add them.
What you post and do: posts, replies, photos, votes, best answers, zones you join, reports you file, people you block, and game plays and scores.
Feed signals: which posts you see, open and how long you read them, your votes, replies, shares, joins and "Not interested" choices. These are private to you and used only to rank your "For you" feed.
Invites: email addresses you invite, so we can send one invitation and show you who joined. People who join with your link are recorded as invited by you.
People you follow: who you follow and who follows you, and people you hide from your suggestions.
Contacts, only if you choose: in the phone app you can check which of your contacts are on Forumz. Your phone turns each email address and phone number into a one-way code (a SHA-256 hash) before sending it; we compare the codes with our members' and don't keep them. We only keep a daily count of how many were checked, to prevent misuse.
Device and usage data: basic technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, and logs of requests, used for security, fixing problems and preventing abuse.

How we use it

To run Forumz: your account, sign-in, showing posts, notifications and games.
To rank your "For you" feed. This learning is private, fades over about two weeks, and never changes votes, answers or the Hot, New and Top lists.
To suggest people to follow, from things like who the people you follow follow, who answered your questions, and zones you share.
To keep Forumz safe: fighting spam, abuse and fraud, and enforcing our Terms and Community Guidelines.
To send emails you need, such as sign-in codes and security notices, and invitations someone sent you.
To improve Forumz, mostly from combined statistics that don't identify you.

What's public

Your username, profile, public posts and replies, score totals, who you follow and who follows you, zone memberships and game leaderboard entries can be seen by anyone, including people who aren't signed in and search engines. Your email, phone number, votes, feed signals and blocks are not public.

Forumz may show ads, labeled as sponsored. Ads are chosen from the page you're on, such as the zone you're viewing, not from your private activity, and we don't share your personal information with advertisers.

Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run Forumz, under contracts that limit what they can do with it: Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), Cloudflare (hosting and security), Resend (email), Google and Apple (if you sign in with them), and Twilio (text codes, if you sign in with a phone number). We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect people from harm, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, with notice to you.

Your choices

Your feed: see what it learned, reset it, or turn it off in Settings > Privacy and data.
Being found from contacts: turn off "Let people who know me find me" in Settings > Privacy and data and nobody can find you from their contacts.
Your profile and posts: edit or delete them at any time.
Your account: delete your account and personal information at any time in Settings › Privacy and data › Delete account (or write to hello@managedsoftwares.com). You choose whether your public posts and replies are deleted too or kept without your name, as "[deleted]", so threads still make sense.
Access and correction: ask us for a copy of your information or to fix it. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Union), you may have more rights, and we honor them.

Cookies and storage

Forumz uses your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember settings like light or dark mode. We don't use advertising trackers.

How long we keep it

Account information is kept while your account is open. Feed signals fade within weeks and raw activity events are deleted after 90 days. Security logs are kept for a limited time. Deleted content may stay in backups for a short period.

Children

Forumz isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to hello@managedsoftwares.com and we'll delete it.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access rules in our database, and limited staff access. No service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong password or a secure sign-in method.

Changes

If we change this policy in a significant way, we'll tell you in the app or by email. The date at the top shows the latest version.
